I believe in hope.

Jennifer L. Bristow Cain

Life is hard.

You’ve been struggling, and while other people may or may not know it, holding on just keeps getting harder.

You want to hope, but you’re not sure if you can— or should. You’re not broken. Nothing is “wrong” with you. But you are tired, stuck, and overwhelmed. You’ve had enough, and you’re ready to do something— even if you don’t know what that “something” is. You’re here because you’re ready for change.

You’re allowed to want more.

When you think back to your hopes and dreams, this just isn’t what you imagined. You’ve been strong for so long, but now it’s catching up with you— grief, trauma, parenting, pressure, pain, life.

Maybe that pain is your own. Maybe it’s your child’s. Maybe it’s both. You’re tired of wondering if this is just how life is.

You want something different. You want something more. You’re tired of just surviving. Maybe you’ve even whispered at 3am:
I can’t keep doing this.
Something has to change.
Can it even get better?

Maybe someone even told you not to expect more. They were wrong.
And it’s not too late.

What I believe

The power of hope:
When you are willing to do the hard work,
hope is both possible and reasonable.

The power of choice:
Whatever happened yesterday—
Or is happening now—
You can take back your power
and build a new future from this moment forward.

What it means:
Even in your hardest and darkest moments,
there are still things you can control.
Those things can be leveraged to change your future.

Because there is always choice there is always hope.

Therapy is hard work— maybe some of the hardest work you will ever do. When you’re ready, I’ll be here to help you navigate the challenges and celebrate the victories. You’ve decided to invest in yourself and the life you really want. I am honored to walk with you on your journey.

I bring over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor with work in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. I’ve worked with people from early childhood to the end of life— walking with them through some of their hardest days, and watching them find hope again.

My approach is relational, practical, and tailored to your needs. I draw from evidence-based practices including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Attachment-informed care
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®)
  • Mindfulness
  • Existential and meaning-centered frameworks

I specialize in trauma, grief & loss, family stress, depression & anxiety, and life transitions. I have a deep respect for the role of trust, relationship, and choice in your healing journey.

In session I’m steady, warm, and clear. I reflect, reframe, challenge, teach, and cheer. I’ll ask questions that will make you think, offer you new skills, challenge your assumptions,
help you define what you want, and walk with you while you do the hard work of change.

My credentials

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Oklahoma (#4205)
  • MA in Clinical Psychology, University of Tulsa (2006)
  • BA in Psychology, Harding University (2004)
  • TBRI® Practitioner
  • Reflective Functioning (Trained to reliability with Howard Steele)
  • Approved Licensure Supervisor

I am committed to being present with you as you are present with your past and present, while you build your future.

As you create change, you will still have hard days, but you won’t be stuck there. When life gets ridiculous and overwhelming and the stressors build up as they always do, you’ll find that you have the tools you need to manage them. When things start slipping, you’ll know how to take back control.

You’ll have a path forward, and feel confident as you walk it.

The Work Is Yours—
But You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Therapy isn’t so much something I do, it’s what you do: the bravery to face the problems, the willingness to try something new, the day-in and day-out work of change. So when you’re ready: You bring your story, your needs, your hopes, your hurts, and your goals. I’ll bring the tools, training, and experience, so that you can build something new. Something worth deciding to hope for.
