Hope isn’t a feeling— it’s a decision.

I help children, teens, and adults find hope in the midst of life’s hardest seasons — even, and perhaps especially, when hope feels impossible. Whether you’re navigating deep grief, complex trauma, or overwhelming family challenges, I’ll walk with you through the chaos until you start living with freedom, joy, and purpose.

This isn’t the life you imagined.

You’ve been holding it all together for years—maybe even decades.
And maybe no one sees. Maybe no one knows. But under the surface?

You know.

Something isn’t working. Something has to change. Whether it’s grief, depression, anxiety, family stress, trauma, or just the weight of life itself— you’re tired. Tired of feeling stuck. Tired of being overwhelmed. Tired of wondering if today’s the day you’ll finally break. You are tired of just surviving.

And you want more.

Therapy might be the right next step if you are…

  • Trying to manage overwhelming emotions—your own, your child’s, or both.
  • Parenting through challenges no one prepared you for.
  • In season of change and feeling caught off guard.
  • Caring for everyone else—while neglecting yourself.
  • Carrying pain you’ve held for so long, you’re not sure who you’d be without it.
  • Someone who has been in therapy before—and are ready to try again.
  • Telling yourself “this is just how life is,” but in your heart you know you want more.

Jennifer L. Bristow Cain

I believe in hope.

I’m Jennifer Cain, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oklahoma. I provide therapy for children, teens, and adults in Owasso and the greater Tulsa area, or by telehealth across Oklahoma. For over 20 years, I’ve walked with clients of all ages through life’s most intense and defining moments, from first breaths to final goodbyes, and everything in-between.

Hope, to me, isn’t just a feeling. It’s not some soft thing that happens to you or something you wish for. It’s a decision— made one day, one choice, and sometimes one moment at a time.

That decision may feel terrifying or liberating— or perhaps a bit of both. Taking control of your life means facing what’s not working and choosing to do something different. The results of that choice— the different, the unknown, and the new— are almost always scary and disorienting before they become exciting and life-giving.

Facing down the decisions you can control— and letting go of the ones you can’t— means you have power. Not over everything, not over other people, and not over the things that have happened in the past—but over yourself, your thoughts, your reactions, your boundaries, and your next steps. I won’t pretend that those steps are easy, painless, or always pleasant— they’re not. But in those steps lie the power and the freedom to change your life.

Areas of Focus

Are you up at 3am, spiraling? Do you constantly plan for the worst? Do exhaustion, anger, resentment, and numbness dog your every step?

You’re tired in your bones. Life seems like a burden that gets heavier by the day— sometimes by the hour. You’ve white-knuckled it this far, but it keeps getting harder to hold on. Therapy for depression and anxiety won’t change anything overnight— but it can help you find room to breathe, fight back, and rest.

Do you struggle to feel safe? Does your past keep intruding on your present? Are you stuck in old patterns you can’t seem to break?

When the unthinkable and unacceptable happens — whether recently or long ago, to you or someone you love — the impact can be life-shattering. Trauma-informed therapy offers a path forward: a place to make sense of your story, learn new skills, and take back the power that was once taken from you.

Are you struggling to breathe or make sense of life in the aftermath of a loss? Does the sadness overshadow your days and make joy hard to find?

Grief and loss are a painful part of life. You might be grieving a person, a pet, the life you’d hoped for, or dreams that won’t come true— your loss is real, and it matters. There is life on the other side of grief; life that is meaningful, hopeful, and more than just a memory of what-once-was. Grief counseling offers you a place to honor what was and move forward with grace, purpose, and hope.

Parenting struggles? Adoption challenges? Blended family adjustments? Teenage turmoil? Stretched-thin member of the sandwich generation?

When home feels more like a battlefield than a refuge, all of life can feel like a fight. Individual and family counseling, grounded in TBRI © and attachment-informed care, can help you strengthen family connections, clarify expectations, and learn to navigate conflict with grace — so your home becomes a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Sleepless nights? Toddler tantrums? Attention issues? Friendship fractures? Struggles behind closed doors? Does your child suddenly feel like a stranger?

When your child is hurting, nothing feels right. Whether you’re parenting a little with big emotions, a school-aged child overwhelmed by growing demands, or teen wrestling with pressure and change, you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy offers support for you and your child so that you can understand what’s happening, respond with confidence, and move forward together.

Meltdowns, shutdowns, or constant power struggles? Parenting that feels confusing? Wondering what your child actually needs from you right now—or if you’ll ever get through to them? Stumped by behaviors that just don’t seem to match the situation?

When behaviors feel intense, unpredictable, or hard to understand, it’s often a sign that something deeper is going on beneath the surface. You may find yourself reacting in ways you didn’t expect—or questioning whether what you’re doing is helping at all. You’re not alone.

TBRI® offers a compassionate, practical framework to help you better understand your child’s needs, respond in ways that build connection, and create safety and stability at home.

Does the idea of therapy feel intense or intimidating? Are you looking for a way to lower your stress and feel more present during sessions? Do you feel a natural connection to animals and want to incorporate that bond into your healing?

Sometimes hope has paws. Animal-Assisted Therapy isn’t a replacement for traditional counseling, but a way to support regulation, engagement, and connection through the unique bond between humans and animals. Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, or are simply an animal person, a therapy animal can provide the sensory grounding and emotional safety needed to do the hard work of healing.

(Note: I am currently in a season of transition, and have a new therapy dog in training.)
